India took even more Russian oil last month, crowding out Saudis

India's imports of cheap Russian oil reached a new record in May at 1.96 million barrels a day, with the OPEC+ producer increasing its market share relative to Saudi Arabia, according to Vortexa data. Saudi Arabia's shipments slipped to their lowest point since February, while the average cost of Russian crude landing on Indian shores in April was $68.21 a barrel, the lowest level since India started buying major volumes of Russian oil after its invasion of Ukraine.
