Just like in 2017, the BJP is banking heavily on women-centric schemes to win the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is ensuring that these schemes reach the beneficiaries in time. It is believed that women-centric schemes such as Ujjwala Yojana, building “izzat ghar” (toilet) in each house under the Swachh Bharat Mission and giving free electricity connections under the Saubhagya Yojana helped the BJP come to power in UP in 2017.
